Why do we have to talk about Austrian cinema? First of all, because it’s a (unjustly?) considered second-rate cinema, a sort of “appendix” of German cinema. Secondly, because that’s what’s great about talking about cinema: investigating, getting to know new worlds, new unexplored lands. Last but not least, there is a great love for Austria and, in particular, for the city of Vienna, where I, Marina Pavido, lived and with which I still have a strong connection.
And so, in January 2019, cinema-austriaco.org was born, carried on also thanks to the help of friends and colleagues: an unusual and somewhat odd adventure where also a little bit recklessness is, in the historical period in which we live, necessary.
